Those who rocketh

September 24th, 2007

My sister came up to spend the day with me. She came with me to my blood draw. We had lunch. We went shopping. We laughed and grocery shopped together. We hung out, and talked a lot. She brought me a surprise - a couple of drawings Bean did in pre-school! I will treasure them forever, and they have a permanent place on my fridge.

The thing is, Les and I have our days where we hang up on each other, because we know how to push each other’s buttons, but we also have days where we laugh our asses off and talk about only crap that both of us would get.

The thing is, while we have our differences sometimes, at the end of the day, my sister’s the person I count on to have my back, if need be. She’s the one who’s there to answer my million medical questions, especially recently, with being diagnosed with DVT, otherwise known as a blood clot in my leg. She gets my weird anxieties, she reassures me things will be fine, and she’s the first person to offer to drive an hour and a half one way, just to be with me for a few hours during a time of need.

I realize I don’t give her enough credit sometimes, and that’s something I’m going to work on. She’s a good mother, an incredible nurse, an excellent wife, and a wicked kickass sister. Thanks for being there for me. It means more than I can express, sometimes.

Love you too, Les.
