Jane Bon Bon

July 13th, 2008

I was pilfering Facebook, when I ran across Heather’s profile. She talked about buying her first Jane Bon Bon dress. Curious, I hit up the page, and oh. my. hell. So so so cute! My favourite so far, is the cute red and white polka dot dress, though she’s got a ton of cute stuff for sale. Damn you, Heather! You’re going to make me drop an entire paycheck! :)

Daily reminder

Fireworks

This is a picture I took over July 4th weekend. I really like this because it gives you a glimpse into life standing still. In an instant of pressing a button, sometimes you’re lucky enough to capture a moment in time, where all that exists in the moment is pure joy, elation, fun, and feeling carefree. Without photos, I think sometimes those things are easy to forget altogether.

Consider this your reminder to have some fun and not take life too seriously!

The making of Toronto’s Mille Femmes exhibition

June 15th, 2008

French artist Pierre Maraval calls his photo exhibitions ‘‘human landscapes,” each a collection of 1,000 portraits of individuals linked by a common characteristic or shared passion. Athletes, AIDS workers, Internet pioneers, and women from some of the world’s greatest cities are among those whom Maraval has celebrated since he began his project in ‘93. Now he turns his lens on Toronto and the women who enrich the city’s flourishing cultural scene through Toronto’s Mille Femmes. Toronto’s Mille Femmes is a tribute to 1,000 artistic, creative and inspiring women from Toronto and their protégés, who embody the passion and heritage of the city. Architects, actors, dancers, designers, journalists, musicians and others have been chosen in recognition of their achievements and leadership in their field. Joined together, the 1,000 portraits will become a visual network, a chain of recognition that celebrates not only an extraordinary community of women, but also the creative character and diversity of Toronto.

This exhibit can be viewed at BCE Place in Toronto.

Dogwood

Decided to be a little proactive this weekend, and created an online shop for my photography! Swing on by, lemme know what you think.

Or buy. You know. You can do that, too.

The little things

Dandellion

Sometimes it’s the little things in life that make all the difference in the world.

On a side note, it appears fall is already here. The leaves around my neighbourhood are changing, and falling to the ground already. Lots of orange and reds. Really pretty. The weather seemed to have gotten cooler overnight, and the rain has kicked in. I wonder if this is really the start of the rainy season? If so, it’s starting a bit early. I’ve been looking forward to it, in a way, though. This time of year always makes me want to get my cooking on - lots of crockpot stuff, like chili and beef stew, and I always want to fix baked goods. I bring out the pumpkin spice candles, and look forward to winterizing my apartment. (Does the fact that I actually get jacked up about going through my winter clothes make me a loonie? Oh wait…)

I think I’m ready for the rain.
